Summary

The WDC is a voluntary, non-governmental, multi-ethnic, humanitarian organisation founded in March 1999 to serve women and their families and help solve their problems. The centre was initiated by women who have participated in training programmes provided by the Canadian Institute for Conflict Resolution or worked for different international organisations.

About

WDC members are highly educated women of different nationalities, professions and ages from both sides Mostar who enjoy the confidence of all the town's citizens. The WDC is organized into four teams. The first deals with democratization and human rights, focusing on violence against women and children, and is currently implementing a project to fight against trafficking in women. The second deals with economic development, the third with ecology, health and nutrition, and the fourth with improving living conditions and social policies.
