We empower Rwandan youth to uphold their individual and collective responsibility and actively fight against genocide and genocide ideology. Aegis Students Rwanda was launched in August 2007 at the Kigali Memorial Centre in Rwanda. Since its inception, Aegis Students Rwanda has undertaken a wide spectrum of activities to combat genocide and has formed links and facilitated dialogue between students in different countries around the world. Aegis Students Rwanda is coordinated by a National Committee who have established Aegis Students Societies in different schools and universities throughout Rwanda, empowered young leaders in those institutions and provided a platform from which the youth of Rwanda can speak out with authority and unity against genocide. Among other activities and events, including the International Conference, Aegis Students Rwanda played a significant role in the 15th Anniversary of the Rwandan genocide. Aegis Students Rwanda coordinated over 400 young volunteers to create a giant candle artwork in the National Stadium in Rwanda (Amahoro Stadium) as part of Aegis Trust’s Candles For Rwanda campaign.
