About

Mission

To create gender equality and empower women and their children in MENA to become active citizens of the world.

Aims

Promote policy changes and social policy development through developing platforms which support dialogue, engagement and equality throughout MENA.

Support the rights and civil liberties of women and children by disseminating information and good practice.

Activities

The Karamatuna Programme

The Karamatuna (Our Dignity) campaign seeks to spread awareness about female sex trafficking and sexual gender based violence which is a universal struggle amongst women across MENA and globally. This programme focuses most closely on the trafficking of young Iraqi women for the purposes of sexual exploitation across the Middle East.

Microfinance

SCEME, through the Future Visions Charitable Trust, supports micro finance programmes for women in the West Bank.

The Future Visions Charitable Trust has provided micro-finance interventions in the West Bank to Palestinian women who do not have access to finance. The Future Visions Charitable Trust provides micro and small loans so that Palestinian women can purchase capital items for mainly home based businesses.

Further Activities

SCEME delivers training and workshops on gender issues in the Middle East and to UK organisations working in the Middle East.
