Summary

One By One works to increase awareness and understanding of this deeply troubling condition that affects so many women.

About

One By One's mission is to contribute to the elimination of fistula worldwide. we partner with in-country organizations to create programs and mobilize the resources needed to support both life-transforming treatment programs and essential prevention work.

Activities

Fistula Treatment One By One partners with facilities in high-need regions to establish and sustain comprehensive fistula treatment programs. We support outreach to bring rural women out of the shadows and connect them with the care they need. We strengthen the capacity of facilities to perform free fistula repairs. We work to establish vitally important rehabilitation and reintegration services for women post-repair, including counseling and income generation training. Our goal is to ensure that as many women as possible receive the care they desperately need so that they can return to their communities fully healed and able to resume productive lives.

Fistula Prevention As important as treatment is, the key to ending fistula is through prevention. One By One is committed to the critical work of increasing access to basic and emergency obstetric care for all women. We support a broad range of interventions that lead to growing numbers of women who are able to deliver with trained birth attendants and, if necessary, have access to the emergency care that prevents fistulas and saves lives.
