Summary
Darfur Women Action Group (DWAG) is a Darfuri women-led organization combating violence against women in Sudan and empowering Darfuri women.
About
Darfur Women Action Group (DWAG) works to provide relief and rehabilitation to female victims of rape and violence in the Darfur region of Sudan and empowers them with the knowledge and tools to combat. DWAG works with victims and survivors of the Darfur genocide in the Diaspora and in Sudan, providing them with more access to the tools that will enable them to lead the effort to combat violence, address massive human rights abuses in their society and work with others to prevent future atrocities and promote global peace.
The core priority for Darfur Women Action Group lies in advancing human rights and supporting Darfuri to meet the challenges of the 21st century. It does this by supporting women NGOs at the grassroots and national level in the US and on the ground in Darfur, building their capacity to lead desirable change, and providing opportunities for the international community to hear directly from those most affected by the conflict.

Activities
We are leading a two way empowerment process, by educating the public about women’s issues, mobilizing support for them and fully engaging the affected communities at all levels to work hand in hand with those who are advocating and help them in their strive to achieve lasting change. We also amplify the voices of the victims and survivors and provide them with space to share their expertise with their supporters who advocate on their behalf and empower them with in-depth knowledge about their issues so that they can be effective in ending the atrocities, achieve justice, reconciliation and peaceful coexistence.
DWAG works with the Darfur women in the United State to overcome their challenges and build their capacity to be able to contribute to their society in the US and support their counterparts who are still suffering in Darfur, Sudan to enable them to be active participants in the rebuilding of their society when peace comes.
